A Spark of Inspiration
Katie Bishop's journey with Giving Kitchen began with a simple yet powerful spark of inspiration. She first read about Giving Kitchen in Bon Appétit and found herself deeply moved by the mission. Like any compassionate and resilient foodie, her wheels started turning. What if something like Giving Kitchen could be brought to her beloved town of Columbus, Georgia?
The Idea Takes Root
As fate would have it, the universe had plans for Katie and the Giving Kitchen family. While her PR Firm, Yalla, was in the midst of planning Columbus's inaugural Restaurant Week, they were on the lookout for the perfect beneficiary. Naturally, Katie thought of Giving Kitchen. However, at that time Giving Kitchen was not yet serving the Columbus area.

A Growing Relationship
From that serendipitous moment of reconnecting with Giving Kitchen's Executive Director, the relationship between Giving Kitchen and Columbus began to flourish. By January 2018, Giving Kitchen expanded outreach to all of Georgia and Columbus’s food service community had officially joined our Giving Kitchen family. This wasn't just a milestone; it was a testament to the power of community, collaboration, and the unwavering spirit of individuals like Katie who make up Giving Kitchen's community.
A Future of Compassionate Impact
Katie’s journey didn't stop there. With unwavering dedication and a heart full of hope, she has since transitioned into a pivotal role, serving on Giving Kitchen’s National Advisory Council. Her excitement and honor are evident as she looks forward to continuing her steadfast support, which will help us amplify our impact on the food industry.
